My dishwasher smells like burning rubber during certain cycles while running. There is nothing sitting on the heating element. The dishwasher is about 6 years old.

My oven is by Kenmore and the problem is that I can't get it to go off when I press the off button and so therefore, I have to unplug the whole thing to turn it off. So when I plug it in the broiler comes on but not bottom of the oven. I need it repaired!

Most refrigerator repairs tend to involve a leaky appliance, a refrigerator that doesn't cool properly, or doesn't cool at all, or a refrigerator that has stopped completely. There are a few basic steps you can take to get your appliance functioning properly again, but if these don't work, there is no other choice but to call in a professional refrigerator repair specialist. Any refrigerator repair manual is only meant to be used by persons who already have a working knowledge of the refrigerator, its components and functioning. Before attempting any troubleshooting or refrigerator repairs, make sure that the appliance is unplugged from the power source. A refrigerator that has stopped running could be the result of something as simple as a defective power source. Check if the appliance is getting enough power by plugging some other electrical device into the refrigerator's power outlet. If there is no problem with the power, confirm that the appliance is not running by checking if the light turns on or if there is any humming sound coming from the refrigerator. A refrigerator that has suddenly gone dead could be the result of a fault in the wiring, defrost timer, thermostat or compressor.
Sooner or later, you may find yourself needing refrigerator repair services. Refrigerator repairs tend to be complex, and are best left to a professional. However, if you have excellent DIY skills, you can try a few tips to repair your refrigerator yourself before calling in a professional refrigerator repair expert. For instance, if your fridge has completely stopped running, check if the light comes on, or if there is any sound coming from the refrigerator. Make sure there is enough power supply to the refrigerator. You can do this by plugging some other device into the refrigerator's power outlet. If there is a lack of power supply, check the circuit breakers or fuses. If your refrigerator is not cooling properly make sure that the thermostat is set to the proper setting. If there is no problem with the thermostat setting, check if your compressor motor is still running. A functioning compressor motor will make a humming noise.
You can minimize the need for refrigerator repairs by performing periodic maintenance. In case of a self defrosting refrigerator, remember to clean the drain pan at the bottom of the refrigerator regularly. The melted water collecting in the drain pan can lead to mold growth. Keep the coils of the refrigerator clean. You can find these behind or underneath the refrigerator. Make sure that the gaskets on the refrigerator door are sealed tight. To check if your refrigerator door gaskets are tight enough slip a piece of paper in between the door and the refrigerator, and close the door shut. Try to slip the paper out. If you can pull the paper out easily, then your gasket needs changing.
